OUR FINE BREWS

All of our beers start with a story. It is our goal at The Kelsey City Brewing company to honor our local history through great beer. Operating as a nano-brewery, Our production is on a smaller scale and this allows us to serve unique small-batch craft beer that is as fresh as possible.

Something else that makes us unique is our focus on a wide variety of beer styles and flavor profiles. We brew what we like to drink ourselves and that passion carries over to our final product. Whether you prefer a rich stout, a bold IPA, or a crisp easy drinking pilsner, we offer something for everyone. Most of our beers are available year-round, but we are not tied to any "flagship" recipes, giving us the freedom to change things up based on our available ingredients, time of the year, and demand. Consistency is also a top priority and we can promise whatever beer you fall in love with will taste the same as you remember upon every visit.

Prosperity Farms Belgian Wit

Belgian Wheat Ale, 5% ABV, 12 IBU. This is our interpretation of a traditional Belgian Style Wit with an aroma of oranges and coriander. The classic Belgian yeast gives hints of banana and spice in the aftertaste. Prosperity Farms was a council of farms, orchards, and groves in Kelsey City. The farms Included the Monet, Prairie and Wilson estates among others. All of them yielded some of the most sought after produce, spices, and fruits (especially oranges) that were shipped directly to Madison Square Garden in 1924. Go ahead and add a slice of fresh citrus to your glass giving you the full Prosperity Farms orange grove experience, perfect for a Florida summer.

Sawmill Red IPA

India Pale Ale, 6 ABV, 70 IBU A slightly different take on the classic West Coast IPA, this reddish copper ale incorporates more malt for a medium body texture with added caramel and toffee notes. Don’t worry, there are still plenty of piney, resinous flavors from Simcoe and Chinook hops while maintaining the tropical fruit aromas from Mosaic hops that IPA drinkers are accustomed to. When Harry Kelsey needed lumber to build his city he turned to Gaston Drake. Drake’s Lumber Company moved its entire operation from Miami-Dade County to build an enormous sawmill just outside of town. This mill went on to harvest over 3,000 acres of pine, providing finished lumber to Kelsey City.

Capt. JJ’s Pineapple Wit

Norwegian Wheat Ale, 4.3% ABV, 19 IBU. This is a refreshing light wheat ale with bright carbonation, aromas of pineapple and a hint of grapefruit in the flavor. Named after Capt. John Laurence Jensen who emigrated from Denmark in 1888 and set up his pineapple plantation, which eventually became the town of Jensen just to our north. Capt. JJ put South Florida Agriculture on the map by shipping over 1 million boxes of pineapples every year and earning the name ”Pineapple Capital of the World”. This beer would have been perfect to enjoy after a long day’s work in the pineapple fields of Eden (the name of the original homestead in which they were planted).

Bt. Oakes Pilsner

Bohemian-Style Pilsner, 4.5 ABV, 27 IBU. This beer is derived from a Czech-style Pilsner (the most time-consuming to brew) which has a distinct clean and crisp taste. Harry Oakes was one of Kelsey City's largest investors and landowners (present day Palm Beach Gardens / North Palm Beach). He was a medical school dropout that found the second largest gold deposit in history. He retired to the Bahamas with a net wealth of nearly 3.7 billion in today's value. King George VI made him a baronet, just below a baron, after contributing millions to the Bahamian infrastructure. Oakes was brutally murdered in 1943 at his estate after a night of drinking, possibly even something reminiscent of this recipe.
His murder is still unsolved.

Mangonia Floridaweiss

Berliner Weiss 3.8 ABV, 3 IBU. A southern take on the more traditional German Berliner Weiss, this “Florida” Weiss is a kettle sour with fresh mangoes and passionfruit. The lemony bright sourness comes from lactic acid produced during fermentation with no further sweetening to keep it very tart and refreshing. In 1884 Rev. Elbridge Gale cultivated the first surviving mango tree in all of South Florida. His efforts sparked a mango fever and Gale was so enamored with the fruit that he named the area “Mangonia”. This variety later became the Haden Mango. Now, nearly 80% of all the world's commercial mangoes can be traced back to this original Mulgoba tree.

Model Dairy Milk Stout

Milk Stout, 4.3% ABV, 24 IBU. A rich, roasted flavor with notes of chocolate and coffee. We have utilized lactose, or milk sugar, developing a touch of sweetness and giving a similar experience as to adding cream in your coffee. Then, just a small dose of hops to balance the roasted notes. This namesake comes from The Kelsey Model Dairy Farm, originally located south of the Earman River between today’s Alternate A1A and Prosperity Farms Road. It was established in 1925 and one of the first dairies to offer delivery in Palm Beach County. With a mild roast body, smooth finish, and a fairly low alcohol content you can just about drink this all day.

Packing House Juicy IPA

India Pale Ale, 6.9 ABV, 80 IBU. This is a “Juicy” IPA with late kettle, whirlpool and dry hop additions of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops. It has a very strong tropical fruit aroma, with a taste reminiscent of fresh squeezed orange juice. A Packing House is where oranges are processed by hand straight from the fields, hence the name. The citrus industry is deep-rooted in Florida’s history starting with the first planted orange tree by Ponce de Leon sometime in 1500. Florida oranges are considered the best for juicing with the most prized citrus coming from the Indian River district (Daytona to West Palm Beach). This IPA is the closest thing to biting into an actual orange from those prestigious groves.

Engine 94 Imperial IPA

Imperial India Pale Ale, 8.5 ABV, 80 IBU. The big brother to our Packing House IPA featuring the same pine and resinous notes from the Simcoe hops but adding the slightly different citrusy flavors of Bitter Gold, Mosaic and Triple Pearl hops. Engine 94 is a double IPA with a robust body of pine and tropical fruits to start, then finishes with a high alcohol content excluding any residual sweetness. Drake’s Lumber Company was moving so much lumber through Kelsey City that a train was the only thing that could keep up, so Drake purchased his very own. The steam engine and tracks ran 25 miles through the pinelands and plantations along what is now Northlake Boulevard.

Kettler's Kolsch

Kolsch, 4.7% ABV, 17 IBU, At its core this is a traditional German Kolsch style ale that is clean, crisp & delicately balanced. The brewing process is a hybrid somewhere between a lager and ale. This “easy drinker” has a subtle maltiness throughout and refreshing finish. Carl Kettler, better known as The Moving Picture Man, established the first movie theater in Kelsey City on the corner of present-day Clematis Street, West Palm Beach. Kettler's Bijou Theatre opened in 1923 and was later rebuilt as The Kettler. The 1400 seat theater showed the first talkies and was known as the most beautiful theater south of Atlanta. If only this beer would have been available at the concession stand.
